The housing crisis just keeps going and going, and no one, not even celebrities or politicians, is immune:
- Nice house you got there, hate to see something bad happen to it: Victoria Gotti’s Westbury, NY mansion may soon be repossessed by her bank. Why? She apparently hasn’t been paying the $25,000 monthly mortgage, and still owes $650,000 to JP Morgan. The ex-wife of the notorious Mafia figure John Gotti is fighting the foreclosure in court.
- Not the picture of a happy homeowner: He may not have a reality TV show like “Growing Up Gotti”, but NY State Sen. Kevin Parker has earned his own share of notoriety after it was revealed that he hasn’t made a mortgage payment on his house in more than a year. If that weren’t bad enough, Parker got himself arrested after he allegedly assaulted a New York Post photographer who was taking pictures of him from across the street.
- “I’m listening” to a lot of cash go down the drain: “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer hasn’t been missing his mortgage payments, but he did take a big hit on his Los Angeles house when he sold it last month for about $770,000 less than he paid two years ago.
This just goes to show that anyone can be hit by financial misfortune, even those who can afford high-priced lawyers and accountants. All the more reason financial literacy is so important these days.
